The White House is certainly a necessity. The White House offers only tours at the request of a congress member, so contact your congressman before your scheduled trip to ask about getting a scheduled tour. The Supreme Court is also open to the public. The US Holocaust Museum and the Congress Library should also see while in the Washington area.

The least expensive way to see the capital of the country may be to purchase a vacation package that includes your hotel, rental, and car rental, while in DC. These packages typically cost average travelers hundreds of dollars less for their overall journey.
